Award

The Prize is intended to distinguish the work of a scientist having an excellent record in one of the main areas of fluorescence, i.e. in spectroscopies, probes, imaging and microscopies. It includes an invitation to give a plenary lecture at a MAF conference, a prize of € 1,000, and an invitation to write a review for the journal Methods and Application in Fluorescence. The awardee, preferably less than 45 years old, should not have performed her/his work on the continent where the MAF conference takes place and the Prize is awarded. Nominations can only be made by members of the Permanent Steering Committee (PSC) who should be contacted in this matter. A list of the PSC can be found at maf2022.com/committees. The awardee will be selected by a 3-person Prize Committee.

MAF conferences are highly interdisciplinary and have become the world’s largest meetings on fluorescence. The Prize is named after Otto Wolfbeis (Regensburg; Germany) who founded the MAF conference series back in 1989 and is known for his work on fluorescent probes, labels and optical (bio) sensors.
